Various illumination sources and lures were used to attract moths last Friday night in the wood near Delph Croft View. The following moths appeared: Scalloped Tortrix, Large Yellow Underwing, Common Carpet, Dun-bar, Square Spot Rustic and Flounced Rustic. Nine people came as well as the moths!

The Scalloped Tortrix is quite uncommon, the Large Yellow Underwing was large and colourful, but the most beautiful was the Flounced Rustic. Such intricate patterning!

Flies were also attracted to the light including Small Fleck-winged Snipefly, Bright Four-spined Legionnaire Soldierfly and Marsh Whitestripe Cranefly.

Thank You to Tracey Woolley from Bradford Urban Wildlife Group for identifying the moths, sharing her enthusiasm and knowledge about them and for finding the Scalloped Tortrix in particular!
