2014 WORK PARTIES
Sat 6th December
Improved the path at the top of the wood. Mike and Sheila worked on clearing the gulley on the side of the cobbled path. Sat 1st November Walked around the new glade area and did some litter picking around Heather Hill. Sat 4th October Weather stopped play. Sat 6th September Rain stopped play. Sat 2nd August Friends of Park Wood invited Friends of Low Wood to come visit Park Wood as a reciprocal meet up about each of our woodlands that based in Keighley. Eric led a comprehensive Grand Tour of the wood with commentary along the way. Sat 3rd May We cleared three passage ways into the wood from Kendal Street, filled 15 bags of litter from the area - the ditch and higher up - and removed an old fitted kitchen. Litter and kitchen to be removed by Council on Tue 6th. Thank you to the kids of Kendal Street for helping out! Sat 5th April We walked around the wood, enjoying the walk and thinking of projects for the spring and summer. |
We came up with the following:
- Dry stone wall repair including training for us - Litter picking (particularly on the down side of the cobbled path about half way down) - Footpath repair near Delph Croft View - Adding retaining stakes by the footpath near Parkwood flats - Identifying with the Council an area of beech in which to create a clearing - Clearing up a set of steps by 31 Kendal St - Species Richness list For next month: clearing up the set of steps by 31 Kendal St and litter picking the area. Eric is going to arrange pick up of rubbish by Council. |
Sat 1st March
We finished the cobbled path! About 10 days work over the course of about a year finished. Our longest project to date! Well done us! (See photo). What's more, we also picked up 5 bags of rubbish and some pieces of old carpet (all now languishing in the tip).
