NEW GLADE IN PARK WOOD

28/10/2014

Here are some photos of our new glade. Three sycamores were felled on Friday. We went by orientation and size of tree. The three sycamores chosen allow light in from the south. Picture 1 shows what it is all about - why we felled the trees - to let light in, rotting wood for invertebrates and natural regeneration (small oak in bottom right of photo). Picture 2 is a gap in the canopy created by removal of the trees. Pictures 3 & 4 are views of the glade from half way up the birch escarpment.

What about a name for our glade? Any suggestions?
