KEIGHLEY WALKING FESTIVAL

Keighley Walking Festival starts Saturday 13 Sep and runs until Saturday 27 Sep. There are over 50 guided walks on offer for all ages and all abilities.

Friends of Park Wood will be leading these walks:

Yvonne will be leading a walk through Park Wood to Druids Altar on Friday afternoon 19 Sep. Walking through Park Wood, along the snickets of Long Lee and Thwaites Brow to emerge into open countryside and fields with views across the Aire Valley. After a break to take in the views at Druids Altar and refreshments ( bring your own drinks/snacks) return skirting the St Ives estate back to Park Wood and Kendal Street.

Liz will be leading a slow walk through Park Wood on Saturday afternoon 27 Sep. A gentle introduction to the stunning landscape of Park Wood we will stroll around the with regular stops to discover signs of how the site has been used by people and has changed over time and to identify the many different habitats, the trees, plants, fungi and animals that live here and plenty of great photography potential. 

Both walks involve uphill and downhill paths and steps. Places may slippery and muddy if wet. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Children are welcome with a responsible adult.

There is also a Nature Walk- Name that Fungus on Sunday 14 Sep @ 11am from Kendal Street into Park Wood led by Adriana Szczerepa.   

Name that Fungus is a fun and family friendly walk that will introduce you to all kinds of fungi! Mushrooms create the largest underground network in the world, a vast and intricate network of fungi, primarily mycelium, that connects the root systems of plants and trees. We will learn the names of mushrooms that we will come across on the walk, find out which are edible and if they have any other uses! Adults and Children accompanied by responsible adults.
