On Friday 5th June,FoPW Chairman, Eric Yaffey, presented a sycamore slice to pupils at Parkwood Primary School during one of their Celebration Assemblies. The gift is intended to establish links between the school and Friends of Park Wood.
The sycamore slice comes from our new glade and is 150 years old. When this tree was the age that Parkwood pupils are now, William Gladstone and Abraham Lincoln were political leaders, Florence Nightingale and Charles Darwin were active, bikes were called 'boneshakers' and children worked in the mills!
