Park Wood Tree ID EVENT: Walk, Explore & Learn

Come and join us on a walk around Park Wood and learn how to identify the types of trees within the woodland. A chance to get to know our local wood! Meet at 11am at the intersection of Dale View Grove with the track down into the wood. Families welcome.

France-Leigh, Amber, Sue, Anita and Eric. We toured the wood looking at bark, buds, leaves, twigs, tree shape and habitat. We learned how to identify the most common tree species in the wood: beech, birch, sycamore, oak, elder, hazel, rowan and ash. We also found yew and a swedish whitebeam. Next time we will explore the lower parts of the wood and look at alder, willow, blackthorn and lime.
